Diego Costa fights referee as Chelsea lose first game under Conte

Posted By: Victor Morgan - 12:10 AM
– Diego Costa exhibited his usual anger in their game against Rapid Wien
– Chelsea lost their first match under Antonio Conte 2-0
– The Blues will continue their build-up to the 2016/2017
season against Wolfsberger Chelsea have lost their first game under new manager Antonio Conte.
The Blues were beaten 2-0 in a friendly against Austrian side Rapid Wien, with Diego Costa getting
 furious just after 13 minutes.

The very temperamental Costa charged at a player after he was fouled and also exhibited his usual anger towards the centre-referee. Goals from Joelinton and Tomi Correa saw the Austrians emerge victorious, as Chelsea lost their first pre-season game ahead of the 2016/2017 season.

Chelsea started the Antonio Conte era with a disappointing 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat at Rapid Vienna on Saturday, July 16, at the Aliianz Stadium, Vienna. Recall that the Italian was chosen as the full-time successor to Jose Mourinho, who was sacked in December, with Guus Hiddink having led Chelsea to a 10th-place finish as interim boss during a disappointing Premier League title defence last season. Although, the Blues were without first-team regulars due to their participation at the just concluded Euro 2016,. A well-worked passing move on the edge of the penalty area resulted in Joelinton rounding the Chelsea goalkeeper and converting into the empty goal before teenage substitute Ola Aina almost levelled with a fortuitous cross-shot that evaded everyone and hit the right-hand post, but Rapid doubled the lead late on. Begovic pulled off a smart stop from Stefan Nutz, but there was nothing he could do to prevent Tomi poking in from close range. It ended Rapid Wien 2-0 Chelsea.
Conte’s men will continue their pre-season games on July 20 when they face Wolfsberger AC in Klagenfurt, Austria.

Winner of the 2016 Spelling Bee Competition, Master Olaseinde Olufemi Joshua on Friday narrated how his father, Mr. Olaseinde missed the meeting with Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and members of the State Executive Council.

Joshua, a student of Shasha Community Senior High School in Alimosho area of Lagos, who spoke at the Lagos House in Ikeja while being hosted as the 16th One-day Governor of the State, said his father would have loved to be present at the event but was unable to attend due to some health challenges.

Besides, Joshua described Governor, Ambode as the most labour-friendly Governor in Nigeria. XHe said despite the dwindling allocation from the Federal Government, Governor Ambode has remained committed to the prompt payment of workers salary.
He said:
"While over 29 states of the federation cannot afford to pay their workers, I really commend the Governor's hard work and determination to take Lagos State to the highest level." Joshua added that so far, Governor Ambode had lived up to the true meaning of the acronym of his name which he described as "AMBODE - Ambassadors of Meritorious, Brilliant, Organised and Dedicated Entity."
Responding, Governor Ambode ordered that Joshua's father be treated at the medical facilities of the State Government.

A deeply touched Governor Ambode said:
"It is unfortunate that his father could not make it for this very special occasion in the life of his child but will be attended to in the health facilities of the State Government."
Besides, Joshua was given a laptop, printer and generating set courtesy of the Governor's Office while other winners of the competition were given tab each.

Five police officers have been shot dead and six others wounded during a protest against the deaths of two black men shot by police - as tensions rise across America. The officers were shot dead at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas, Texas, as two snipers are believed to have targeted the officers from an 'elevated position' in a multi-story car park.
The protest massacre comes in the wake of the deaths of two black men shot dead by police within hours of each other.

An ex army veteran used his military training to carry out a coordinated ambush which left five police officers dead.
Former corporal Micah Xavier Johnson used an AR-15 style rifle to target white officers at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas, Texas on Thursday night.
Horrifying footage emerged showing a police officer being executed at point blank range and another from a man who live streamed the shocking scenes.
25-year-old Johnson's massacre ended after an intense firefight with police when he was blown up by a robot sent in carrying a bomb.
Three other people, two men and a woman, were arrested but officials have said Johnson was a lone gunman.
The victims have been named as Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, 48, Officer Michael Krol, 40, Sgt. Michael J. Smith, 55, Officer Patrick Zamarripa and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) police officer Brent Thompson, 43.
Racial tensions have been rising across the country after the shooting dead of several unarmed black men.

Faces of the 5 Police officers killed by the sniper in Dallas

A newlywed and a Navy veteran of three tours in Iraq were among the five Dallas police officers killed in a sniper ambush on Thursday night. The victims were identified on Friday by officials, relatives and the media as Dallas Police Department officers Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, Officer Michael Krol, Sgt. Michael J. Smith, Officer Patrick Zamarripa, and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) police officer Brent Thompson.

Seven other police officers and two civilians were wounded in the shooting at the end of a protest over this week's killing of two black men by police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota. The Dallas shooter was a U.S. Army reservist who served in Afghanistan.
Transit Police Officer Brent Thompson, 43, worked for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system since 2009 and was the first officer killed in the line of duty since the transit system formed a police department in 1989, DART.

Thompson spent more than four years in Iraq, working for private U.S. military contractor DynCorp International as a police liaison officer who supervised Americans training and mentoring the Iraqi police force, according to his LinkedIn profile. Thompson got married to a fellow DART officer only 2 weeks ago.
Thompson was also a father and a grandfather from a previous marriage.
Patrick Zamarripa
Navy veteran Patrick Zamarripa, 32, served three tours in Iraq and was killed in the attack, his family told Reuters. He served in the military reserves as well as working as a Dallas policeman.

His uncle, Hector Zamarripa, said by telephone that Zamarripa was a proud Mexican-American who leaves behind a wife, their toddler-age daughter and a stepson.

Although he did not speak much Spanish, he went by the name Patricio among his Spanish-speaking friends and relatives.
Michael Krol
Michael Krol, a 40-year-old officer with the Dallas Police Department, was killed, according to a statement from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in Michigan, where Krol worked as a deputy in the jails from 2003 to 2007. "We are saddened by the loss of the dedicated officers in Dallas - one of whom was a former member of this agency - and also the wounding of the other officers," Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon said in the statement.
Lorne Ahrens
Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens, a 14-year veteran with the Dallas police, was one of those killed, the Dallas Morning News reported. Ahrens, a 48-year-old California native, was married to a Dallas police detective and had two children, ages 10 and 8, the newspaper reported.
Michael Smith, 55, also died in the attack. He served in the military as an Army Ranger before joining the Dallas police in 1989. His family said he left behind a wife of 17 years and two daughters, ages 9 and 14.

May their souls rest in peace.
